Pensford Tennis Club (PTC) was founded in 1990 and leases part of a small site in the middle of a residential area of Pensford Avenue, Kew from Richmond Council. An Environmental Trust occupies the remainder of the site.

The amenities of the Club have greatly improved over recent years, with a new pavilion and clubhouse, completed in 2002, a sixth court, completed in 2003, floodlighting on two courts installed in 2004 and carpet laid on three courts in 2005.

PTC aims to be:

  • Friendly ambience – our aim is to have an informal, intimate and non-intimidating atmosphere. Most activities have an important social dimension.

  • Policy of non-exclusivity – we accept all levels of competence and beginners of any age are cordially admitted.

  • Family orientation – we welcome families; children can come to the Club with or without parents and partake in activities specifically designed for juniors.

  • Neighbourly aspect – we provide opportunities for local people to meet and socialise, additionally newcomers are helped to integrate into the community.
  • Availability of courts – easy access to courts promotes ready exercise that can be enjoyed locally.

  • Focus on proficiency – we facilitate coaching, practice and match-play for those who are interested.

  • Competitive element – we encourage participation by individuals, pairs and teams in both internal and external competitions, taking account of the varying standards of play within the Club.

  • Provision of organised play – we enable regular play for those who are interested.
